The European Parliament has today rejected the current draft of the European Copyright Directive as passed by its legal committee last month, with 278 in favour and 318 against. ICMP has joined other like-minded organisations in issuing a statement following the vote.
Commenting on the vote, ICMP Chair Chris Butler said: “It’s a sad day for creators across Europe who just want to get paid properly for their work. But all is not lost. If at first you don’t succeed, you try again, and this is what we will do until the battle is won.”
